About Ojai Solar

Ojai Solar Electric is a top-quality design and installation company specializing in Photovoltaic (PV) and Solar Hot Water systems with a service territory that extends throughout Southern Calfornia. Created in 2001 by electrician Christopher Blunt, the company's early years were dedicated to meeting the growing demand for high-quality and affordable residential solar in Ventura County. Since then, the company has grown substantially, branching out into small commercial and public works projects, performing installations throughout the United States and completing more than 300 projects to date. To learn more about the company is to learn about its employees -- the dedicated people who are committed to making sustainable energy a reality.

The Faces of Ojai Solar...

Topher Blunt: President of MegaSolarNABCEP-certified PV InstallerChristopher "Topher" Blunt, president of Ojai Solar, is a California-licensed C-10 electrical contractor (lic. 827764), and one of only 1,000 NABCEP-certified solar PV installers in the country. He is a graduate of Solar Energy International's Advanced Photovoltaics Design Course and on the planning committee for the annual Solar Power International conferences. He plays an integral role in the sale, design and installation of each project Ojai Solar completes.

Growing up with solar hot-water panels on the roof of his childhood home, Topher has always had an interest in sustainable energy and all things alternative. This started during his college years in Austin, Texas as a dread-locked vegan chef Deadhead philosophy major and led to a cross-country bicycle ride in 1995 from San Francisco to Washington D.C. promoting environmental activism with a group called Bike Aid. From there he travelled to New Zealand and bicycled his way around the country working on organic farms and experiencing life first hand in an off-grid solar- and hydro-powered intentional community near Wanganui.

He moved to Ojai, California in 1996 and lived for 6 years in an intentional community of organic food-growing vegetarians. He worked for several years as a private-school math teacher before training as an electrician and subsequently founding Ojai Solar Electric. He is also an accomplished singer and guitar player, father of two incredible future solar installers, Riley and Nicola, and a seminar leader for Landmark Education.

Jeremy is also one of only 1,000 NABCEP-certified solar PV installers in the country and is a graduate of Solar Energy International's Advanced Photovoltaics Design Course. His expertise is evident in the streamlined, efficient and high-quality designs that are installed by the company.

As a pivotal figure of the larger solar industry, Jeremy is dedicated to the upward growth of Solar PV for cost-effectiveness and high performance.

Chris Shorb: Sales Manager of MegaSolar Electric

Chris Shorb is the sales manager for Ojai Solar. He has had a long-time interest in green technology, and entered the solar industry as a sales consultant in 2006. As a representative of MegaSolar, he is thrilled to work in a field that is in line with his values. He believes in managing his sales with a similar sense of responsibility.

Chris views his role in the company as a first-contact educator for potential clients and hopes to guide potential customers to a good and custom solar solution that squares specifically with their energy needs.

Robert Caiza: Lead Installer for MegaSolar

Robert Caiza is one of Ojai Solar's lead installers. An engineer by training, Robert believes that more education in energy alternatives will lead people to make better, more sustainable choices.

His volunteer work with the non-profit organization Bici-Centro in Santa Barbara is an integral part of his life. "Bici-Centro takes used bike donations from the county's residents and fixes them up to be suitable to use," Robert explains. "The bikes then are sold and the profit made is used to educate children and Santa Barbara residents about bike safety, physical health and environmental awareness."

Lynda Mors: Accountant for MegaSolar

Lynda Mors came on this year as an accounting consultant for Ojai Solar. Ms. Mors has a B.S. degree in business management from Boise State University. She also operates as the chief financial officer and vice president of administration for the Daylite Company. Since its inception, Ojai Solar has had a partnership with Daylite. Many satisfied customers have received Daylite's products.

Paul Maylone: Operations Manager of MegaSolar

Paul Maylone is Ojai Solar's operations manager and coordinates all of the company's basic activities from its initial customer contacts to the delivery and installation of its systems.

Paul's interest in solar energy was developed during his studies as an artist and is incorporated into his solar-powered kinetic sculptures. He holds a degree in art history from the Sorbonne and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
