Q: What's the average lifespan of a solar panel?
A: The average solar panel has a lifespan of 30+ years according to tests by the EU Energy Institute. Ojai Solar takes great pride in working with some of the top vendors on the market. For most jobs we use Sharp, Sanyo, BP, Unisolar, or Schuco brand photovoltaic modules and SMA America or Satcon inverters to ensure our clients get the quality and longevity they expect with such an investment.
Q: What maintenance is involved after having a solar array installed?
A: As with all good investments in life, your solar installation will need to be periodically maintained. To make sure that you're getting the most output for your money, MegaSolar recommends that your solar panels are cleaned once every month in the dry season. The more clean surface area that is available to absorb the sun's rays, the more power your panels produce. Modules are cleaned just like windows, with water and a squeegee.

Q: What happens if something goes wrong with my system?
A: Ojai Solar takes care to install each system properly, but at some point your system may need to be serviced. Each system we install comes with a standard 11-year warranty. That means if an issue should arise, just give us a call and we'll come over and resolve it free of charge.
Q: What current incentives are available for a solar installation?
A: Currently California has a program called the California Solar Iniative (CSI), which offers a cash rebate for installed solar electric generation equipment. Legislation was also recently passed requiring electric companies to "buy-back" any energy produced from privately-owned solar panels that is above and beyond what the owner consumes in a year.
